just talked to Wes. 2 baskets are being installed today, and the last basket still needs to wait until they cut down more schule close to the basket. some fairway trees also needing cut. I am going up Friday after work. I'll give a review before I head to Channy on Saturday.

The plan for Tinley Park was/is for Siesmen Park near 167th & Harlem Ave.  I will try to get more info this week.  They approved 18k for the course.  Last I hear things were possibly changing.  I will find out and let you know.  They are installing a 225k dog park though.  Take that humans!

I'll repost what I find out as fact.

Anyone know when the Lindenhurst course will be playable?

pdga#7648

just got back from Baker Park in Kewanee, and my advice, is wait until the course is actually ready to play. all 18 baskets are there(good luck finding them all) and all but 6 tee pads are poured, but ALOT of trimming still needs to be done. and they really need a map or nextee signs to direct players where to go.
I think they rushed to get the pads poured and baskets installed before actually making all the fairways. #2 is a very cool hole, and 14-18 are fine, but the others that we saw, need some improvement.

My rating as of today, a 4/10

Bakers park in Kewanee,IL is not complete so giving a rating 4 out of 10 rating is uncalled for and when it gets done I invite all to come down and rate it for yourselves.I will continue to update this matter and keep everyone informed on the progress of the course. And if anyone has any questions feel free to leave me a message. thanks

pdga#7648

no disrespect hogcity, but I was told Saturday, that all 18 baskets were in the ground so we drove up to play it. I knew 6 pads had yet to be poured, but without someone who designed the course to show us around, we had no clue where to go after holes were played?
Yes, the course has alot of potential. when it is completed.   was just a little upset we drove an hour only to get lost after 3 holes. we couldn't find 2 of the baskets at all.

we will drive back up and play it again when all complete, and I'm sure that rating will be alot higher.
like I said though, no disrespect intended. I just didn't want my pals from the Chicagoland area to make the drive down, when the course is like you said, not complete.

Bakers park in Kewanee,IL is not complete so giving a rating...

Second on this and doubly so if the course is wooded. It takes time and a bunch of work to develop a mature course, more so than just baskets in the ground. Late yesterday, on a whim, I ran out and played a course with the baskets installed just the day before. It was rough and muddy with the flow a bit confusing but it's brand new. Potential is there, just a matter of time and a hella lot of work to smooth the rough edges.

pdga#7648

and when all the rough edges are smoothed, like I said, we will be back to give the course a fair play. just needed some guidance out there is all I'm saying.

holes 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 are great looking holes!

Please no one take offense to this post. I am not talking to anyone directly here but what i've seen from my experiences in disc golf. I don't let others opinions on courses persuade me one way or the other. Can't wait to see the course. What is the land like & what is the address?

I get frustrated seeing this in disc golf. There seems to be a rush to get disc golf courses in the ground. IMO courses should be designed then play tested to work out kinks. It's a long process to get a course right and maximize the potential of the piece of land. Good holes, safety, flow, & navigation are very difficult to get done correctly. Once the baskets go into the ground play is going to begin. Word spreads very fast in the disc golf community. I would love to see tee pads and signs complete before the baskets go into the ground.

The land is a nice mixture of defined mowed fairways and heavily wooded holes. The park doesn't really have an address but the parking will be at the very end of Golden Ave, there is a strip of land just at the end that the park owns that we are allowed to park on.

This course did get designed last year and tested when the Flyers had a fund raiser tournament. They did take all the comments into consideration and made the adjustments that they felt would make the course better... like hole #2 as stated in a previous post, that hole got redesigned because of the suggestions from the tournament and it is a very fun hole now. There is a lot of work left to be done but I think this course is shaping up to be a great course that will be very fun and challenging. But it would definitely be in everybody's best interest to wait until it's complete and a map and signs are there for assistance.

CEValkyrie

I'm looking forward to playing it.

I also found out about a 9 holer in Mahomet and a Midwest Disc Golf designed 18 in Geneva.

Does anyone know when the Wildlife State Praria Park down in Peoria opens?

Brett, this was from Brian Lucas, the course designer, back on 4-16...

The fundraising is moving slower than hoped but it's in progress. we have aproximately $650 'in hand', hole 1 has been reserved by the PFC and several other parties are pending. I am sticking with the $800/hole price. I want to do it right from the start, so that after the course is open we can focus strictly on improvements. The price is based on getting a better quality basket than what is at Washington, standard concrete prices and 2 quality tee signs. Rob bought a lot of the concrete for McN on sale and I can't count on being able to find it at those prices. Wildlife will be earmarking the money for the course as sponsors come in and any money left over will go to things such as good stairs, bridges, stairs, erosion control projects and maybe some stairs. The money we raise from the fundraiser events will go towards hole sponsorship and/or supplies such as tee forms, practice basket(s),etc. I'm hoping we can get enough sponsors that the fundraiser $ can be used to put the course at that 'resort feel' level as quickly as possible. There will eventually be a set of blue tees added and left over hole sponsorship money could be used to put those in also.

The course will go in eventually. Sponsorships and labor hours will make it go in faster. I have been out cutting the back 9 and am making quite the mess, leaving brush lie where it falls and tree stumps needing pulled. My work schedule is starting to stabilize and i will try to post a work schedule with more advance notice to allow people to plan better.

Thanx for the continued interest and support,
supershank

ps. the kiosk sign is now a standing frame by the parking lot. I have heard that there will eventually be a course map/sign and scorecards with maps on them available at said kiosk. thank you wpsp volunteers.
