The Social Network is a very good film.  Across the board there are great performances and the writing is outstanding. Directed by David Fincher, who directed Fight Club.  Absolutely one of the best films of the year. Blows away Inception. Watching The Town right now, halfway through it is pretty good.

I thought The Social Network was very good as well.

Recently saw "The Fighter", which I thought was tremendous; great acting and the boxing scenes are very realistic.

Thought "The Town" was good, not great.

All of them set in Boston, more or less, and none of them made me want to move there...   8)

The Town was alright. Just watched it last night with wife & son.

Don't we all wish robbing banks was as easy as they made it seem

Due Date was a good one if you really like to laugh. Z.Galifianakis is a gag once again. Probably better than he was in the Hangover. worth renting for sure!

Watched The Fighter last night.  Very good.  Recently saw The Other Guys and thought it was hilarious.  Dinner for Schmuck's, not so good.

The Bogey Man

Due Date was awful. Watching Galifianakis play an idiot for 90 minutes was dreadful. Glad i didn't see it at the theater. Hangover was way better.

We went and saw Limitless.  It was decent but there wasn't really any surprises.  Pretty predictable.  Bale would have made it a little better.  Good thing Bradley Cooper was the executive producer.  It's watchable, just don't expect it to me mindblowing.

We saw Rango a couple weeks ago, a renter not a ticket price movie.  It's cute, but of course it is, it's a cartoon.  It'll be good for a drinking movie for "take a shot every time you see something intentionally stolen from another movie".  You'll be wasted.  I'm sure the 8 year olds don't notice the Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas reference.

Saw Bridesmaids, one of the best movies of the year. Very funny with a nice story and good characters. Also saw Hanna, which started off very strong, but kind of went off track at the end. Still a movie worth seeing.

Bridesmaids huh?  Maybe I'll give it a chance on your advice, but normally that one would never show up on my radar.

Recently I've seen:
Crazy Heart - Jeff Bridges broken down country music star movie.  Wife and I both liked it alot.
Green Zone - Matt Damon a marine in Iraq War searching for WMD's. - Pretty good, fast paced with enough action to keep me interested.
Hereafter - Matt Damon talks to dead people - eh, not so great.
Devil - its an M.Night Shamalan movie. its not terrible, but not great. atleast its not very long.
The Informant - Matt Damon works for ADM in Decatur and informs to the FBI.  Strange movie, but kind of liked it.
Gullivers Travels - Jack Black.  Pretty good if you have kids.  Jack Black is usually good for a few laughs.  Alot of the humor is aimed more at adults.

We have been on a movie binge as of late:

Moneyball:  Jonah Hill was good. Brad Pitt was doing his best Robert Redford imitation.
The Descendants:  Outstanding movie about relationships.
The Ides of March: Good movie not great.
The Killer Elite:  Jason Statham and Clive Owen battling it out. A decent action movie.
The Debt:  I enjoyed this movie, the characters and story was interesting.
Midnight in Paris:  A Woody Allen film.  An interesting way of looking at life, probably not too far from reality for a lot of people.
Straw Dogs: Violent and silly. Not recommended.
Zombieland:  4 Stars.  This movie was a bonus. Had no idea that this was such a great movie.

Not knowing anything about it, based on the title and the movie poster, Kelsey, Kira and I are looking forward to "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."

Add 50/50 to the above list.  This was a good movie that addresses a subject in a new way.  Very funny, also very touching. Seth Rogan movies are hit or miss. This one was a hit.

Enjoyed Carnage.  I really liked The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I haven't read the book, I am not sure if I would have enjoyed the film more or less. Either way, I really enjoyed this film.

The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo: I listened to the audio book while driving out to Rochester last summer. Very entertaining, I have the movie in my Netflix queue.

It was a weird weekend of high school movies-  We rented Detachment from our cable's On-Demand menu. This is a movvie with Adrian Brody as a substitute teacher in an inner city high school. He is great, There are great performances by Marcia Gay Harden, Lucy Liu as a counselor and James Caan as a teacher. That being said, this was one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. It was a heavy handed downer about how bad things are. Every single teacher in the movie, save one bright eyed young teacher, was miserable and most seemed to hate their job.  I think the movie was supposed to be pro teacher but really would make somebody think about getting into such a lousy profession.  It got a 53% tomato rating and that's accurate. it has some redeeming value and some nice performances.  I still cannot recommend the movie.

As an antidote to that downer we saw 21 Jump Street the following night. its juvinile, its has way to many male member jokes and it is unrealistic...that said, I laughed the entire time. The movie was very funny. The two leads had a lot of chemistry.  This movie will not leave much for you to ponder the next day. Its less meaningful, but way more fun than Detachment.  In a way it reminded me of Blazing Sadddles insofar as it was proudly stupid but kept bringing more gags and most of them worked.

Deadhead alert--- while watching the previews for 21 Jump Street I saw a blurb that on 4-19 there will be a Grateful Dead concert movie at a handful of local theaters.  I was at that show at Alpine Valley in  1989.

Going to check that out. Listened to The Hunger Games trilogy and that was a pretty entertaining listen on a road trip

We saw 21 Jump Street over the weekend. It was a funny and enjoyable comedy. I thought the brief disc golf segment was hilarious. Unfortunately there wasn't any game play. The two main officers were on uniform bike patrol of the parks. They show one of the officers digging a disc out of the pond while 4 stereotypical chuckers are standing by with a basket in the background. Officer gets the disc out and then hurls it into the middle of the pond. "Get your own effing Frisbee!" He says as the disc splashes down.
