With the growth of the club in 2006 and 2007 is it time to consider ordering golf shirts again? I think shirts were ordered in Fall, 04 right before the time I joined.  With pro and am worlds coming up in 2007 there is sure to be a large contingent of club players at these events.  It would be pretty cool to have us all wearing club shirts on a given day.

I PM'd John that I realized as soon as I posted that the general rule is that if you want something done you have essentially volunteered.  I have a lot on my plate lately as yesteray I was elected President of the Evanston Bicycle Club.  I can't definately volunteer now but I figured I would still take this discussion a few more steps and we can then figure out whether I, or somebody else, will take ye olde bull by the horns.  We may want to bump this discussion to its own thread in the members only section.

I did a quck google search and came up with the following web site:

http://www.logosoftwear.com/companyshirts.php

I do not know about the vender the club used last time.  My recollection was that the shirts looked pretty nice but weren't made of the greatest fabric.  I do not have one and am not sure.  Just nosing around the above website it seems the first question is how much indivduals are willing to pay and what minimum quality shirt they would want.  I personally would prefer a nicer shirt in some type of wicking fabric but would balance that against price. I am sure there are many other venders out there.  Also, I do not know who the vender was last time and if we save any $ because they already set up the order.

I do not know what is involved with a logo and whether we would go with the existing one or open it up for new ideas.  Based on recent trophies and bag tags we have a lot of talented members, friends and hangers on.

Obviously, the more shirts we buy the better deal we get.  I have gone through this with the bike club.  Unless DISContinuum wants to have a stash of shirts, I suggest that we take orders and money up front based upon a non-binding census of who wants one.Once we see how many are interested we can look for the volume price for the shirt we want and then collect that in advance before making an order.  We can post to the forum the expected price before we start collecting. I will leave it to the board to figure out the most expeditious way to collect.

Lets start with these questions:

1)  are you interested?
2)  what are you willing to pay?
3)  do you have fabric preferances?
4) do we have a color preference and please keep in mind that a white shirt gets real dirty and doesn't look very good on us big boned folks.
5)  do we want the existing logo or a new one and does the answerr to this question depend on setup costs etc?

mirth

1) yes
2) roughly $25/polo if it is good fabric. No more than $20/shrt if its what we got last time
3) poly/cotton blends are good. Keeps you cool & helps wick away moisture provided its not 1000 outside like Rockford last summer.
4) Last order we did from Kennedy Creative in Waukegan let us pretty much have our way with shirt colors & thread color inside the logo. They informed us after the fact their embroidery person was NOT pleased with that order & wouldn't do it again. So, shirt colors may not be an issue but for a logo we should offer one or possibly two color variations.
5) Doesn't matter. A new logo could be cool. Never cared for the est. 2001 part of the logo we got last time.

I AM interested. I asked about the shirts this year myself. I think $20-$30 would be a decent price.

Maybe offering an upgraded membership option for '07 that would get you a Bag Tag AND a club shirt would be a good idea, but I would buy one either way.

I like the polo shirts, even though I'm a golf-without-sleeves type of guy. They would look more professional for Am & Pro Worlds in 07, as I'm sure the club will be represented well in both events.

Let's stay away from the Homie-yellow and white as Dave requested. The Fox Valley Club already has blue shirts and it would look kinda weird having all that blue through 2 clubs. Something other than black would be good.

In light of these posts I withdraw my nomination for David for head of the shirt committee and nominate Mukey. I would be glad to help you out in any way that I can Mukey. Personally I like heather gray shirts and green embroidery.

I'm down for it. At least it'll give me something to do, disc golf-wise, in the winter months. There's a few custom shirt places I've seen around here, I'll find out more info on prices & whatnot & post them here.

Might be time for a new club logo too, but I agree with Mirth that the Est. 2001 could be left off.

Found Terry Miller's Red shirt when I looked through old posts, looks like a cool color.

I am interested but will need the shirt to be something legitimately wearable.

I have alot of polo shirts and they are pretty much always the Dri-fit type of material.  Its light which is whats important to me.

Black is a safe color.  And I'd be willing to pay 35 bucks as long as I know I'm getting a shirt that I can wear regularly.

I agree with Dan light is key. The old DISContinuum polos get heavy with just a little perspiration and are not very comfortable.I would also pay $35 for a quality shirt.

Same here. Dri Fit material is key.

I would rather pay $35.00 for a shirt that I can use and wear, then $20.00 for a shirt that is going stay in the bottom of a dresser drawer.

These people could do Dry Fit polos for about $30 each plus a $50 set up charge.

You can get your choice of colors and sizes.

White
Red
Royal
Burgundy
True Navy
Jet Black
Charcoal
Light Blue
Dark Green
Papaya
Seafoam Green
Dandelion

These people seem to be offering Rapid Dry custom embroidered polos for about $24.  There is a $70 setup charge for an art logo but only a $10 setup charge for a font-only logo.

I really like my Discraft Rapid Dry shirts so I'm fishing for Rapid Dry dealers.  Most also have Dri Fit but Dri Fit is a lot more expensive.  I think the difference is 60/40 versus 63/37 poly-cotton blend.

From what I see on these websites seems to show that we can get something in a modern wicking fabric in the $35 range. I agree that a light wearable shirt is worth that money. They had what were described as coaches shirts in good fabrics on the website I first posted. These were about $35.

Mukey, I would be glad to help you.

Jon Brakel

I need them in tent sizes. Sometimes they charge more for that, but I'll pay for something that fits me.

You may also wish to consider a T-shirt style and not a polo. I don't know if there is a price difference or a preferrence among players. The "collared shirt rule" allows for sport-type t-shirts:

Dress Code - PDGA Major/NT Rules
8.3 Dress Code

8.3.1 All players in PDGA sanctioned competitions are expected to dress appropriately and maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance at all Event sites and all associated functions.
8.3.2 The following dress code for all competitors will be enforced at all PDGA National Tour and Major Events.  The PDGA also recommends that this dress code be enforced at SuperTour and lower tier events, but this decision lies solely with the Tournament Director::  All players must wear a shirt covering their upper chest area. A well tailored shirt with with a fold-down, mock turtle, v-neck, crew neck, Henley, or zippered collar, and with sleeves covering the part of the arm from the shoulder to the elbow (commonly known as the upper arm), shall be considered acceptable. Women are also allowed to wear tasteful, sleeveless collared shirts as designated above.

No t-shirts will be allowed, except for competitors in the Junior divisions.  Crew neck or V-neck shirts made of high-performance or high-tech materials, such as Dry-Fit, Cool-Max, and others will be allowed.

So..... are we going to go with the old logo but take out the "Est. 2001" part?

While looking at the site Bruce put up here, I clicked on "sending your logo" &  it seems we can avoid art charges.

If logo is being screenprinted
You may send camera-ready art, graphic file, drawing, letterhead or etcetera.
Send via email attachment, fax, or regular U.S. mail.
Is logo-art available in "eps" graphical format [in a Mac Adobe Illustrator file]? If so, this will eliminate art charges.

I thought we were doing embroidered like we did last time.

Went through the earlier posts and it seems we really didn't set anything in concrete yet, but that's what this thread is for, feedback. We've got to figure out what we're using as a club logo first, but I was just pointing out that we could save some $ via that way.
