Plus, I don't think sex is an element of disc golf at all. Unless they've had bikini-clad hotties at a fly mart that I'm unaware of... ;D

those would be caddies for the semis and finals

I let Taylor know a couple of days ago that I couldn't access the Worlds site from work. I can get Bell's Brewery, but not the Worlds Site.

pickax

Most likely whoever had the IP before the worlds site and some interesting content. He should be able to contact WebSense and get it cleaned up. There may bea lag before corporate subscriptions are updated.

Odd about websense. Its database is uri based and doesn't typically use ips. Are there google ads or googleanalyitics code used on the site?
I had to whitelist googleanalytics at my old job because it was blocked by websense as either sex or adult content.....
Don't forget your towel!

Interesting, I hadn't ever heard of the Google Analytics portion, but I don't think that is it or half of the web would be blocked. Yes I've heard from three people now about that and I will work on getting it resolved...it just won't be today or this weekend. :)

Couple quick notes:

The qualification standards on the Players page are not correct. Apparently I was given false information and now it needs to be changed. I love decision by committee! The new stuff should be up by Dec. 7.

Three Rivers (Meyer Broadway) was always 18 holes, but now it's totally different and part of the back 9 is now part of the front and vice versa. The tee signs and pads are not in place yet, but it has been approved and partially, if not fully, sponsored.

Kalamazoo can be reached in 2 hours from Chicago with above optimal traffic and driving 80 once you get off the Skyway. On average, it is 2.5 hours, maybe a little bit more.

Scott of Club Dead says:

"originally it was a 9 that was expanded. in 2005 when I moved back to MI
we started working on the redesign.
Scott"

He should know.

Sure, so after 2005 it was 18 holes and in the spring of 2007 he changed 9 of those 18 into new holes. A lot of people have played the old 18 and don't realize how much the course has changed and how much harder it is now, so I was trying to help point that out.

Some of us have been playing disc golf longer than four or five years.  Some of us were playing disc golf before your parents even knew each other!   ;D

The redesigned holes are long and there are several par fours.  The redesigned half of the course is as good as the Tobbogan or Ewing or some of the good par fours at Byron.  The decision to redesign half of the course while leaving the other half as traditional par 2.5 disc golf is what makes the course Jeckyll and Hyde.

If I'm playing Worlds and that course is on my list, I'm taking my gas mask.  Have you ever played it when the wind was from the south?  The wind shifted from southerly to westerly while we were on our way to the course.  We could not have played it if it had stayed southerly.

The course is owned by a landfill company and is across the street from an active garbage mountain.

since there listing 2 different hotels for hosting world is one closer to the courses say the pro end will play vs what the ams play just looking for some insight as trying to get my travel plans and such taken care of

Anything near 94 and 131 is fine.  It's going to be like Iowa where the courses were pretty spread out.

There is an unsanctioned tournament at Oshtemo this weekend.  It must be on Saturday or why would I remember?  Oshtemo is really easy to get to:

I-94 east to US 131 north, go north just a few miles to MI 43 west.  There'll be a Meijer on the right.  A little ways after that there's a fire station on the left.  The course is behind the fire station.

Kelsey and I will be signing autographs on the lunch hour.  Otherwise, it is just an opportunity to play a tournament on one of the Worlds courses.

Just a little kidding.  We're always available to sign autographs, just as soon as any of you develop a measure of esteem for us that matches our self-esteem.

Actually, I'm not sure that we are going.

Don't know about you Bruce but I am sure it won't be long before your eldest will be taking her sharpie to autograph discs. I hope Oshtemo is used for Ams as I will be staying two miles from the course.

What division will you plan on playing Dave? I'll put in a good word. ;)

If I am wrong please correct me, but isn't today the first day that you can register for worlds?

It is indeed. I had e-mailed about on-line registration and told that it would be up today.  AS of 1103am CDT it is not yet there...CORRECTION... it is there.  I could not find it until I found a link on Dave Gentry's post to the message board here: http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=813582&an=0&page=0&gonew=1#UNREAD

Kelsey has no pro aspirations.  I think when she is playing in the advanced mens' division and is the fourth highest rated woman in the world, she'll still be mostly anonymous in disc golf.  She beat about 300 men this weekend who payed the same courses and everyone is talking about two girls whose rounds will rate about 50 points below Kelsey's.  The G-pool hot round was -5 Sunday afternoon.  Kelsey shot -4.  I'm sure that will rate around 940.  Nobody knows or noticed.

She's fine with the anonymity.  She likes the anonymity.  I'm just saying i don't see autograph hunters following her around in the B-pool of the Advanced Men's division at Worlds at KC if she wins Advanced Women at Worlds in K-zoo.

She has said since there's no pro money for pro disc golfers, she'd rather take a few shots at the Men's Amateur World and National Championships, if she is ever better than the best pro women, who basically are Mens B-pool material.    She wants to carry me to a mixed doubles world championship.  She wants to play disc golf in large pools of similarly skilled opponents -- not against the same three women at every tournament.  Although she enjoys playing with Barrett and Marie, she's also seen the scene where the three pro women all hate each other!   :o

All the more reason why those of us in the know will want this class kid's autograph.
