I just gotta hope someone drops out, I just got my name on the waiting list.  How dumb, I got a plane ticket to come home Aug 5th-20th and waited to sign up.  I hope I am up there on the list!

dana I also will likely have space for you in if needed as it looks like Machine is not reg'd at all and with this closed for MA1 I'm guessing I'm alone with my hotel room for the whole week.

Boy do I sound like a sad sack. I don't have any friends and will be staying in a hotel all by myself.

Being able to sleep when you want and not having a snoring roommate isn't bad :)

Thanks for the offers!

Good luck to all the IL competitors, someone bring a title to IL...(cough cough ben or taylor)

I hope everyone has a better 6th round than I did last year as well.
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

6 more working days until I'm off from work to prepare for Worlds :)

Bruce-should I try to play all the courses for my division or should I concentrate on just a few?

This is Rocky- I have been living out in Colorado for the past year.  I actually got a call on Thursday saying I got in off of the waitlist.  I had just gotten an ace right before that and got the call, how cool!  Now I need to find a place to crash.  If anyone knows of any extra floor space or anything I would appreciate.  I am trying to get out there with Kenny and some other people.  Any help would be good.
Thanks-Rocky

Has anyone seen information regarding the dress code for Ams? When Worlds was combined in Des Moines 04 there was the dreaded Collared Shirt Rule. I don't mind, actually, just need to know what to pack....

(and yeah, I also posted this on PDGA.com)

...(edit) where I got an answer; T-shirts still OK until the semis/finals....

Don't expect the language of the rule to actually mean anything.  This is the PDGA.  I'm bringing collared shirts because that's what I wear when i play disc golf.  Other than my Schwinn shirt, I rarely wear a t-shirt.

Becky, have you seen the schedule?  Practice the courses you play twice, Meyer-Broadway and Begg, or practice the hardest courses, Kimball Pines and Oshtemo, which ever works for you.  I guess I'd practice Kimball and Oshtemo just because they are more fun to play.  Like I told Barrish, we're going there to have fun and meet new people, and if a tornado blows away most of the field, win a World Championship.

Friday, tomorrow, we're going to play Meyer-Broadway and Three Rivers.  Saturday we're playing Oshtemo and Begg.

Meyer Broadway and Three Rivers are the same course! It is a really nice course though, so worth playing twice if that's the case.

Can't wait for worlds, I get to play my first round in 6 weeks on Wednesday or Thursday next week!

They are using "Meyer Broadway" to refer to the permanent course and "Three Rivers" to refer to the temp course.  They are in the same park.

Ah fair enough, that was my second guess. That's not confusing at all, the PDGA must be behind this....  ???

Thanks for the pointers, Bruce. I'll keep that in mind when I head over there next Friday. I want to at least walk each course once before I play them.

Friday we played Three Rivers.  This course is pretty boring.  Half of the holes are about 500 feet long in a field with no obstacles.  For a temp course, it has a couple of super lame moments.  This is one:  There are two short holes that play down a power line right of way in the woods.  The basket for the first one is on the right side of the corridor and the tee is no further down on the left side, so that any drive that hyzers out is going to hit people on the next tee.  I can understand that kind of inane course routing when idiots design courses.  They could have made one good hole there and made another hole somewhere else.

Today, Saturday, we played Oshtemo, Robert Morris and Begg.  Oshtemo is what it has always been, a tough, fair course.  I was surprised that they did not fix the one dumb course routing conflict that it has.  On the back nine there's a hole where if your drive or approach shot goes twenty feet past the basket and you walk over there, you are walking blind into the next fairway 70 feet off the tee.  Blammo!

The changes at Robert Morris are mostly minor with the exception of 8, 9 and maybe the other one is 15?  8 should be labeled par 2.  Some players are going to jump putt from the tee on that one.  9 now plays across the pond.  The other one played up to a cluster of trees but a tornado blew the trees down so they rerouted it to the right.

At Begg they put in a new basket for hole 3 about 50 feet diagonally short and right of the island basket.  Then they lengthened 6 by making it play to the old 3 basket position.  So now 3, 4, 6 and 7 have a hideous routing conflict.  8 and 17, if I have the numbers right, still share a double wide tee.

Worlds Am Mixed Dubs is going to be mostly about guys throwing far.  It is at Meyer-Broadway/Three Rivers where the Advanced Men play four tournament rounds, so the doubles will be good practice for the singles.  If you'd like to play mixed dubs, my daughter Kiralyn is looking for a partner.  If you have a reputation for throwing far, I'll front your entry fee.  If you beat my wife and I, you don't have to pay me back.
