Saw blades of glory last night. It was alright, not as funny as I was hoping it would be. How does Talladega Nights compare on the humor scale?

Watched an anime series called "Afro Samurai" recently. It was on Spike TV but they cut it up into 5 episodes. Samuel L. Jackson & Ron Pearlman voice talents. Rza from Wu-Tang did the soundtrack. Very good revenge story and the animation is very nice. They have all 5 episodes on veoh.com for free viewing.

Saw "Death Proof" this weekend. Classic Tarantino dialogue and some great laughs. Well worth the $3 to rent

Watched "28 Weeks Later" the sequel to the Danny Boyle directed "28 Days Later". It's OK, but very predictable. I only really saw it 'cause I like Robert Carlyle, other than that it wasn't worth the 90 or so minutes.

Saw Michael Clayton last Saturday night. We thought it was a pretty good flick. Predictable in some parts, but I didn't see the ending coming until just before it happened. Worthy of the $6 budget theatres or waiting for it to come out on video.

Saw "3:10 to Yuma" this past weekend. Russel Crowe was really good as the "bad" guy, Christian Bale was OK. Decent Western if you like the genre.

Saw Beowulf on Saturday at Ogden 6 in Naperville ($3 theater for those not in the area). Nice looking, not a total action flick, but the few parts that had action had lots. Well done and worth $3.

Went to see I am Legend on Saturday. Pretty good movie. Not a chick flick that is for sure. Besides the ending I liked the movie.

We saw Juno on Christmas Eve. I highly recommend it. I went to it thinking that it would be a chick flick but was surprised that it is a good broad comedy with a lot of heart. Ellen Page is a very understated actress and perfect in this role. Michael Cera is great as always. By "broad" comedy I just mean that it would be appealing to many demographic groups. I thought the music in this was very good as well. It had some quirky indy stuff that really worked well for the film.

Our whole family like Juno as well. This was the screenwriter's first movie.  I liked everything that came out of Ellen Page's mouth. Even when she went into labor she was funny.  We cracked up when she got a contraction and said, "Ow, Fuckity, Ow."

I was forced to see this National Treasure movie and it sucked bigtime ballsackage.  Boring as hell.

I rented Planet Terror and its well worth the watch.  Very entertaining zombie movie by Tarantino.

I read in the Trib the other day that the writer of Juno is from Lemont.  Just a little trivia for y'all

I agree about Ellen Page's lines :)

Eastern Promises is great. A very good story and great acting.

No Country for Old Men is also a great movie. I think it is one of the best movies I have seen in the last couple of years.

I enjoyed Death Proof more than Planet Terror, but I like chase movies more than zombie movies.  I think Death Proof is Tarantino's best film since Reservoir Dogs.

Saw a cool animated film called "Renaissance" with Daniel Craig as the man character's voice talent. It was all black & white, but looked really nice. Story was a formulaic "big corp. in the future" type conspiracy plot. Worth a rental.

I saw Rennaisance at the Chicago Film Festival two years ago right before the Bond movie was released. I agree the plot is a typical.big corp v. little guy story.  I However, this thing looked really cool. I liked the animation in this movie. Also, the science fiction idea about the big corporation's drug was kind of cool.  I will admit that I am a sucker for what I call "near future" sci fi. The world is different from ours but not that different.

After seeing Old Country this weekend, I have to echo Tom's comments. Definetly cream of the crop.

I thought I would be a good son and make a nice pot of meaty chili and invite the folks over to watch some football tomorrow.  I went and got the ingredients this morning.  Here's the problem.  I saw Sweeny Todd this afternoon. I am not sure I am up for it.  I am also thinking of growing a beard.

That being said, I laughed the whole time. It was bloody and sometimes hard to watch.  Helena Bonham Carter was amazing. If you like dark humor and appreciate Tim Burton's visual style, this is a good one.  I suggest a vegetarian dinner if you are having dinner and a show.
