The 4th starter will be Jerome Williams at the start, no matter how hard he gets hit in the spring.

Jerome is still very young and has good potential.  Kerry Wood has been my favorite player since we drafted him, but you are crazy to be confident in his health.  I'm sure even he has doubts.  I don't see any reason why Prior won't get close to 30 starts and win 15+ games.  Same from Zambrano.  Both have Cy Young potential.  Wade Miller  :o   thats more of a shot in the dark there, don't expect to see him start too many this year.  Rusch will get starts in the beginning before Wood is good to go.  Who knows, by mid-season we might finally see Angel Guzman out there.

It's official. I'm joining the in-laws and picking up a Pujols jersey today. I'm even going to get a matching Cardinals sticker to match the one my wife has on her car.

Prior with shoulder problem. D Lee hurting his shoulder at the WBC. I can't take another year of this.

thats an overreaction there buddy.

Lee just has a bruise..no big deal for a first basemen, it will go away with time.

Prior has had no pain until some soreness today, obviously thats not good, but hopefully nothing is wrong.

they could both still be on the opening day lineup.

Cards Schmards, come over to the dark side.  I've heard it said that good guys wear black.

No heartaches.  No ivy. You can boo if your team plays poorly.  You don't have to cheer for a warning track fly ball. You don't have to save face by betting on the lovable losers every year.  You can still get tickets, even after a championship season, did I say championship season?  Oh, come now, you have always wanted to root for a local winner.  Red isn't the most becoming color, and blue, well, haven't you been blue for long enough?  Chicago is a great town for the blues.  But haven't you have been singing those blues for just too darn long? I hear the refrain,

"I hear the train a comin'
comin' down the track.
Although its only April
my team is on its back

I hear Ronnie calling,
but they won't call from the Hall,
he sounds as if he'll cry when he says,
'HE DROPPED THE BALL.'"

ok, lets get fundamental, lets hit and run.  Lets throw strikes.  Lets try and improve a team that is already the champ.  You know you wanna... Come to the dark side.  :Whdatk:

Have you listened to a Cubs game lately?  Fans boo the Cubs all the stinking time.  It drives me nuts.  I'm going to Wrigley 5 times this year (most I've ever gone in one year), and I don't know if I should be excited or afraid! lol.  I know the players are making a lot of money and everyone expects them to go 4-4 with 2 home runs and 20 strikeouts from the starting pitcher, but it's sad when the fans at the ballpark are only selectively supportive of the team.  You can't cheer them when they are winning and then boo if the make a mistake.  Encourage them to do better next time.  Boo the opposition and the umps.  That's the makings of a true fan.

Man did that hurt when Brant Brown dropped the ball, but times have changed since then (thankfully!).  I think Marquis Grissom will be very reminiscent of Gary Gaetti from that '98 team.  The veteran that adds that intangible factor to the mix.

Agreed, Lee's shoulder will be fine.  He can handle a bruise.  As long as Prior is just sore and not have some sort of cleanup needed of his shoulder muscle (and if they say rotator cuff tear I'm going to cry lol), then all will be well.  I've had a sore shoulder before, I'm sure everyone has had a sore shoulder before.  The Chicago media just likes to hit the panic button as soon as someone on the Cubs says the word "pain".

A lot of us Sox fans were Cubs fans once.  Even from back in the Ron Cey the penguin days I used to root for the Cubs.  But Brett is right, you can only have your head beat against a wall so many times before you just have to make it stop.  For whatever reason, the Cubs always have, do now, and always will dissappoint their fans.  And you know what they say....Once you go black.... ;D

Great lineup.  I think by the end of May Murton will be hitting #5 and J. Jones at #6.  Walker/Hairston will do fine at #2 (and 2B).  Marshall will probably go 2-1 over his first 4 starts, and by then hopefully Wood will be back to fit in Jerome Williams' spot.  I'd love to see Wade Miller be able to take Rusch's spot (if Marshall does well) and send Glendon to be a long-relief swing man.  They might have to send Weurtz down to AAA.  Hopefully after the 23-games they play in April the Cubs will be about 14-9.  I'd love to see better, but 14-9 would put them on pace for 98 wins... not quite sure they can achieve that yet.

Goooooooooooooooooo Cubbies!  I'll be in section 420, row 6, seat 101 at the home opener, almost right under the radio broadcast booth.  Woohoo!

Not a bad start.  Good luck boys in blue.  Hope for rain and a sixth starter to bail you out...oh yeah, wrong team. Good luck anyway.

Ok, nice start for the boysinblue.  I was at the Cubs website to check the score.  I saw a button asking me if I wanted to watch the Cubs live on TV if I am an out of market fan.  I clicked it and was treated to the last out of the World Series and the Sox jumping for joy.  Gotta love it. ;D  Its a very sick joke, but I had a nice laugh.

stpitner

what a weird game so far.  I can't complain about the 12-6 score, let's just hope that the Cubs can win this one without any more problems and then figure out how they can win game #2 on Wednesday.

I will lay a Star TeeRex on the line saying the BREW CREW will have a better record than the Cubbies.

Any takers?

How about this - I should be attending the series in Milwaukee on the 7,8, and 9th of July - I bet the Cubs take two out of three there

i think everyone should go to this series - it is always a heated game in milwakee and the location is alot more accessible than wrigleyville for most.   tickets are cheap, old styles are abundant, burnt charcoal in the air - it has all the potential of being a very good time.
