Jim, Adrian, & I made some minor changes to some of the alternates tonight. These changes were made to make them play safer & faster for tournament play. Hopefully it works. Bleow are the changes.

We moved #21 & 23 so they are no longer behind #2 basket. This will eliminate throws using #2 fairway to #3 basket. It will also eliminate the wait of a double tee.

Old #12 is now New #21. For the tournament it will be a mando to throw a hzyer right of the trees by #3 tee pad. You will not be allowed to throw thru the alley of trees on #4's fairway. For leagues, there will be no mando.

#12 is now 46 feet directly behind the #3 tee pad.

#14 ws moved up about 10 feet to a safer position. That tee is now protected from overthrows from #13.

#23 is 42 feet directly behind #5's tee.

#25 is still 395 feet from the basket. It was moved directly left towards the walking path.

Good luck & get some practice in before the 20th!

There is a possibility that you may end up on #2 fairway. Any straight long throw could end up there. Anthing to the right will be knocked down by the trees. This change will keep players away from #2 basket. It will also keep players from throwing directly down #2's fairway. This was a major hold up at the Blast last year.

Alternate holes that use #2, 3, & 4 baskets will be crowded with a 5'some on each hole. We feel these changes eliminate the use of other fairways intentionally.

These holes are fun. #23 is much more challenging. The flow will be better & safer.

It's good to see some Texan's checking out the web pages from Illinois. I grew up in Lubbock and played the course there (in McKenzie Park) on a regular basis. I'm afraid I don't know of very many other places to play outside the Hub city , though. Jim's the know-it-all around here for that stuff. I sure miss being able to play year round.

Adrian suggested, and I have to agree, that we should have something in writing from WPB like an e-mail or letter with a WPD letterhead on it, stating that soccoer practice or soccer games are not allowed on the disc golf fairways. That way, a copy can be handed to the police officer.

An interesting day yesterday at Bevier:

The weather was beautiful and I had some time to throw around 5:30, so I went. Adrian stopped by, then Jay, then Jamie (Jay's fiance'). So we all played 18. The soccer player's came out around 6pm, same old same old. Then, as we were playing alternate #4, this older guy comes accross thie field from #2 tee, not throwing very far, but certainly throwing right through the soccer player's who are now in the #3 fairway. It turns out this guy, Rene, wrote the parks district a letter about how there are people playing soccer on the fairways, and that they refuse to move. He had a meeting with the WPD people that afternoon, and they told him that the soccer players are not allowed to practice or play on the disc golf course. If they are practicing soccer on the course, don't confront them, call the police and have the police deal with it. The disc golf course is for walking and playing disc golf, not for playing soccer.

Anyway, Rene said that he will come by Thursday for the league. He's an older retired guy who just started playing this week, but lives within walking distance from the park.

vanmaster_b

.....my guess is that if we show a copy of the letter to the coach/manager of the group, then they will grudgingly leave and the police don't have to be bothered with something this stupid.

vanmaster_b

That's another thing: I don't think the soccer players practice every day. Adrian said that when he drives by on Fridays, the place is deserted. He was going to confirm that this Friday. Then if that's the case, maybe we could move Best Shot to Fridays - if this soccer thing doesn't work out.

Holy freeking cows!!! Man-O-Man, what the heck just happened??!! Can this be real? Am I still at home dreaming that I'm at work reading this? This is fantastic!! Party at Jim's house this weekend...all weekend!!

vanmaster_b

I don't get it. All this fun, and no one has even mentioned the word "spank". I beginning to think that you don't need to spank in order to have a good time.

That's it! I'm going clean. Cold Turkey man!! So if you see me with the shakes you'll know why.

After looking at them yesterday, I'm pretty sure they are the "Bold Faced" hornets, also called the "White Faced" hornets. They are a little bigger than bees and have those football sized nests that are usually in the park somewhere. They can sting repedetedly and there are probably thousands in the nest. Earlier this summer they had a nest on one of the trees going into #8. It was destroyed or knoked down somehow, and it's my guess that they just found the nearest thing possible for a nest, a.k.a the hole in the ground by the creek on #9. Anyway, a little bit of hornet spray probably won't do the trick. A ton of hornet spray might, though.

Boltcutter for chains?  Anyone?

Craig is going to his moms to pick up a 4 foot bolt cutter on Friday, it should make it quite easy to cut the chain..  I am going to have to intall them on a dry day as I will have to put a bead of chalk on each side of the s hook so it will not shift to far.

So, hopefully have them done by leagues...I will need to be re-emburst for expenses on Sunday.  Is that cool?

I heard that you can crimp the S Hooks so they grab & stay in place. Thanks Shawn!

It is better to let them have some sway...I got this straight from Innova...so a dab of clear caulk on each side of the S hook is the way to go....at least they say.

Craig will be helping install them this coming Tuesday.  Sorry for the delay.

Jim...262-948-3245  I will be in and out and then in again tomorrow, x 6...but will have phone nearby...leave number to get ahold of you if I'm in the out position....call me, we need to chat.  Don't you know how to use the phone Jim?   No soup for you..

I have no chain yet.  Craig said that he would help me on Tuesday, but If you have chain and cutters let me know.  I can help Friday morning until around 2 if you want to install them then.  I have a big tool that makes bending the "s" hooks easy......so I got that going for me.

If you get some chain, It takes 24" from top to lower circle "0".  If we loop them it will take 44" and we need 6 for each basket.  I figured we could just get enough for 44"ers for all and If we use 24"ers we will have enough for other baskets.

OK so then... tomorrow or should I just plan on working with Craig on Tuesday?  I will be at Mark Andrews wedding all weekend.

So is this coming Tuesday good?  we should have started another thread just for this.  I can shuffle my day tomorrow morning to work on it tomorrow.  I'll be answering the phone after 8 tonight  262-948-3245  just call me and we can figure this out.

#1 got hit by a willow branch and the top assembely is bent bad and has cracked the welds.

#2-8 have more chain, #9 has 1/3 done.  I ran out of chain.  Jim gave me 20ft and I bought 150.

I will finish #9 next time I get down there.   Maybe tomorrow for leagues.

#1 is barely playable at this time...
