Waukegan Park District is unhappy about the new bridge and the downed trees. They may dismantle and remove the bridge.
While this is disappointing, we would like to maintain a good relationship with the WPD, so please do not do any other building or rebuilding of any bridges.  This is something we just have to accept for now.

We will have to see what they do, but I think we should plan on just using the existing rocks to cross the creek after Hole 18.

Going forward, we should keep our efforts focused on basic course maintenance and cleanup. Any possible future projects will HAVE to be cleared with (and perhaps done by) the Waukegan Park District.

I will be out at Bevier today between 11:30-11:45 to fix Hole 11's teepad and clean up some garbage.
If there's time, I'll play a round as well.
Anyone available?

Hole 11's teepad is fixed - and fixed well!
The rubber has lasted pretty well.
The frame was in good shape, but there were were three large rotting holes on the main board.
Those holes were cut out, supporting 2x4s were added, fill was added and compacted, and replacements boards were cut and secured.
HUGE THANKS to Ryan Farias and CamSham for showing up and helping get this done!
Pics are on the DISContinuum FB page.

Club members: Bevier Park Work Days.

(1) THIS Sunday, May 17th after 10am leagues - creek cleanup.
There are 3 large blockages in the creek. The park district really appreciates it when DISContinuum members help keep it flowing freely. It also helps avoid flooding around basket 19, which is starting to suffer from erosion.

(2) Sunday, June 7th after 10am leagues - garbage cleanup.
This will be the day after the Bevier fishing derby and there is always a ton of garbage. I will provide large trash bags. I also want to completely clean out all that garbage in the rough on holes 20 and 21. This alone is a multi-person effort as it has accumulated for years.

YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED and necessary to maintain a beautiful course and park. THANKS!

There is a public Waukegan Park District meeting to discuss the future of the parks and open space program.  The walking path through Bevier will most likely be on the agenda.  Please attend this meeting if you can!  I will be there.
Come out on Wednesday May 20th from 5pm to 6pm at the Belvidere Recreation Center at Belvidere Park (412 South Lewis Ave, Waukegan, IL 60085) to join the WPD Master Plan Committee in reviewing the plan.

Adam and I attended the WPD meeting last night.
The proposed walking path is being spearheaded by Lake County Forest Preserve. Waukegan Park District is a partner. It probably will happen within 18 months it seems. WPD will work with us in maintaining and improving the course. If it has to be changed a bit, we will be included in conversations.
Not terrible news.
They also mentioned Discontinuum several times in their Master Plan, so it seems we are considered a valued partner.
More updates as we get them.
