Jim,

It sounds like you have a clear vision on what needs to be done to make the holes ready for the widdershins. Since you're not going to be there on Saturday, can you give one of us a call and bring us up to speed on what still needs to be done. Unless, of course, someone who can help you on Thursday or Friday will be there on Saturday to let us know.

Does anyone have a sickle?

Yes, I'm serious.

Anyone have any napalm?

Yes, I'm serious.

A brush hog would be good also.

Chris,

I'm glad you had a good time and I invite you out to our leagues on Sunday morning. We have players with a wide range of abilities and we divide into upper and lower pools. Then each lower person gets paired randomly with an upper person and we play best shot doubles. Its $6 to play with a cash payout to the top two teams each week.

I look forward to seeing you there!

I'd like to see us have two basket placements for that hole so that we could move it around seasonaly or whenever soccer isn't in the way.

Is it illegal to ride ATVs in the park? Maybe we need to do a little bit of neighborhood watch and stake out Bevier and call the police when the ATVs come into the park. We'd have to check with the police and see if they would even care to enforce anything regarding the ATVs. Perhaps if they get busted a couple of times they won't come back.

What's a curby?

OK, now that we have a pretty good idea on who did this can we get the WPD to get the other WPD involved? Crack down on the ATVers?

Jim, can you contact the park district and let them know that we think we know who destroyed the basket? Find out if they have suggestions on how to proceed with the police.

Becky and I are going to try to fit in the work day into our plans for the weekend. Will bring gloves this time! :)

Perhaps we could work toward having two permanent baskets on that hole. Then if further expansion is done into the non-disc golf areas of the park in the future, we could use that basket then.

I got the following e-mail today. Based on Jim's conversation with the MP guy and then this. It makes you think. We should take a good look at those baskets once the course goes in. I realize Bevier isn't one of them, but...

Jon,

In the last 2 weeks, I know of 5 missing baskets from Chicago courses. Hole #11 at New Lenox, #14 and #15 at Lockport and #2 and #9 from Plainfield.

Is the WPD going to do any kind of regular clearing on A and C? There's really been a lot of crap growing back up over the summer that doesn't look like it's going to wear down with traffic.

just curious...

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Kyle and Steve and I moved the bridge today.  I am not 1005 sure if it's exactly where it was but it'll work.  Of course Steve and I both had to slip and fall in the mud to do it :-) Luckily for me, the mud I slipped in wasn't that wet and sloppy, Steve on the other hand....well let's just say it looked like he had an "accident".

At least it matches his car from a couple weeks ago....

I won't be able to make it Saturday since, against all logic, I'm playing Rumbletown this weekend.

I usually play fairly good practice rounds on a course before a tournament before crashing & burning when it counts. Since I blew up big time yesterday at Dretzka (my only chance to get up there lately, 92+ degrees and the most brutal pin placements...) I'm hoping the pattern will change this weekend.

Send good karma...

Did I say the bridge rocks?!?!!

I'm not sure that's the most reassuring description for a bridge, Jim.... ;)

pathetic. Basket #18 at Lombard has been ripped off this summer for the 2nd year in a row. I don't get it.

We moved #21 & 23 so they are no longer behind #2 basket. This will eliminate throws using #2 fairway to #3 basket. It will also eliminate the wait of a double tee.

Old #12 is now New #21. For the tournament it will be a mando to throw a hzyer right of the trees by #3 tee pad. You will not be allowed to throw thru the alley of trees on #4's fairway.

But won't you still wind up on the #2 fairway?

Yeah, seriously, thanks for doing this Shawn!  This is great!

I believe I will be available next Saturday morning as well.  Do we need rakes, shovels, etc?

ochreogre

I am still in for Saturday morning.  Rake, shovel, and hand axe ready to go.  Unfortunately, I have other obligations tonight, so I cannot assist.  Tomorrow night is a possibility, though I wouldn't get there much before 6 unless the "Powers-That-Be" let us out early Friday.

I don't see the Hole B fairway being a huge obstacle.  I'll borrow a truck Saturday to get a push mower out there and mow it myself if I have to.  Good excuse to get some sun and burn some calories.  :)    I am concerned about the following week, though.  Wouldn't it make more sense to plan on mowing it May 31, a week before the Widdershins, instead of two weeks before?
